As the most populous state in the U.S. – and by far the one with the largest number of motor vehicles –  California invests heavily, at the state and local levels, in development and promotion of low and zero-emission transportation solutions.  While the most visible California agency in this arena is probably the California Air Resources Board (ARB), several other California agencies also play major roles in funding and supporting zero-emission technologies.
