Electric Port Trucks - TransPower is developing electric drive products to enable trucks carrying containers at the nation’s ports to operate on clean electric power supplied by high-energy battery systems. These revolutionary new products will be demonstrated in 2013 as part of a Port Electric Truck Initiative, a project led by TransPower which also involves leading suppliers of electric drive components, a world class truck manufacturer, and a prominent port drayage firm.

Electric Refuse Trucks - TransPower is developing electric drive solutions for refuse and recycling trucks which will eliminate the dependence of these vehicles on fossil fuels and their emissions while helping to mitigate noise. A typical truck that travels 25,000 miles each year would save about $20,000 in fuel and maintenance costs annually if converted to run on battery-electric propulsion. As fuel prices escalate, this economic benefit will grow.
